 "Quality" 2009-12-05
By Corbett LaDuke (Cave Creek, AZ)
Only buy Canon ink refills, I tried to be cheap and bought some generic ink that was not even recognized by the printer. I tried little tricks from the internet to make them work to no avail. Trust me, just spend the extra money and only buy OEM Canon ink.

 "Overpriced" 2009-12-02

The product is good 9 out of 10 times. But, always keep your receipt and box in case you need to return, because it is not uncommon to have an ink cartridge stop shortly after purchase, well before the ink is out. Anyway, my real complaint about this product is the pricing. I go through enough of these expensive ink cartrigdes to pay for a new printer several times over in a 1-2 year span. My current printer is the Canon MP830.

"Designed to cost you extra money" 2009-12-02

These ink cartridges run out really, really fast and will cost you an arm and a leg. This will happen even if you print sparingly or in B&W primarily. The thing is that these cartridges seem designed to go empty as soon as possible. I swear that the ink just evaporates from the cartridge without you printing a page in about 3 months. I've gone through several batches of these and rarely if ever print! The design of the chip and sensor are also designed to show empty as soon as possible. The cartridge has two halves, one with ink and the sensor, the other with an ink sponge and the part that actually feeds the printer. Well, the ink will be "gone" first in the half with the sensor, even if the other half is still completely full of ink! This is called planned obosolesence and a rather sneaky way to accelerate your next purchase. I bought some cheap imitation ones and they very smartly made the ink sponge half as small as possible and the half with the sensor as big as possible so you don't waste that last bit of ink. I highly recommend you avoid purchasing a printer that needs these cartridges or go the off-brand route and buy some really cheap ones!

 "It's Ink, it works." 2009-12-01

I have gone through 2 or 3 cartridges for each color and I have yet to have any problems with the Canon brand. I use the cartridges in a Canon MP610. I have no complaints about either product. I will continue to use Canon ink and purchase Canon printers. Great products from a great company.
